Where did this horrible nightmare called PS Guard come from?

More than likely PS Guard came from any number of malware bait-pornsites, CRACK, SERIAL, WAREZ sites, .ru sites ect.

What is PS Guard?

PS Guard is what I like to call Scare Ware similar to the SmithFraud Trojan, IGuard and others. There are literally hundreds of fake anti-spy and anti-virus software that will infect your system and then try and trick (or even black mail) you into using there terrible tools that are usually spyware or trojans.

How can I remove PS Guard?

Adaware can not remove it. If you uninstall it, it comes back on boot up, it disables your Task Manager so you can monitor or end the process. PS Guard is a next generation malware. Malware like PS Guard and Smithfraud are hidden in temp files and in the registry in duplicate and written to install other versions of them selves upon reboot. To Remove PS Guard, follow the simple step below.

WARNING: Remember that malware is often embedded in your registry. When ever you delete or modify anything in the registry you MUST be cautious as you could possibly do irreparable damage to your operating system.

STEP 1. BOOT into "SAFEMODE With Networking"

Getting into Safe Mode on Window is easy.
Reboot your computer and HIT the “F8” Funtion Key like crazy
If it doesn’t, work try again. The system should ask you what mode you want to boot in. You want "Safe Mode with Networking”

STEP 2. DOWNLOAD THE TOOLS (Adaware and SMITREM)

Adaware - Adaware will NOT clean PS Guard off of your system; it will get rid of all the minor malware, links, cookies and spyware your system has more than likely gathered. Download it from here --> Adaware SE Personal

SmitRem is a regedit script that will get rid of all links to Trojan-HTML-Spy Smithfraud and PS Guard. --> SmitRem (folder downloaded to your desktop)

STEP 3. GET RID OF PS GUARD

Run Adaware scan.

Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file. There will be a series of instructions. Read carefully and wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.

REBOOT.

STEP 4. SCAN FOR PS GUARD. (must use Internet Explorer for this scan)

WAYS To PREVENT THIS TYPE OF MALWARE FROM INFECTING YOUR SYSTEM:

1) Secure your system. Use a firewall, NAT, Updated Anti-Virus (from reputable sources, Update your operating system and browser. DO NOT USE INTERNET EXPLORER UNLESS YOU HAVE TO. USE FIREFOX.

2) Don't surf with an Admin Account. Admin accounts have elevated priviledges so any malware that gets installed on your system will have those same priviledges. Use your administrator account only to download and install software.

3) Limit your visits to "bad" sites. Bad sites include PORN, warez, crack, black hat hacker, and Casino sites. Many of these sites are just lures to get your system infected.

Get the PS Guard Serial?

Don't do it. Do not pay for it Do not use it. Chances are serial and warez sites it how you got the application load on there in the first place. DO NOT get the serial for PS "spyware" Guard, Do NOT use it.
